Print of the Month May 2026 - 'Spring Sunset from the Fiddler'
For 2026 I am excited to be introducing a new monthly print offer! This will give people who follow my work and visit the Gallery an opportunity to pick up a print at a reduced price. Only 10 prints in 2 sizes will be offered at the reduced price - once these have sold, the print will be offered on general sale at the full price and will never be discounted again.
I will be choosing a new image each month throughout 2026. These will be pictures that have never been displayed in the gallery before and will be a mixture of recent work and old favourites that for whatever reason have not been put on display. I absolutely love printing new work - from image editing through to choosing the right paper and then making final adjustments, seeing the image go from screen to a finished print I can hold is incredibly rewarding. The fact that I produce and mount my own work here at the gallery is something that I’m incredibly proud of - the whole process is undertaken with quality and attention to detail at it’s very heart.
April’s Print - ‘Spring Sunset from the Fiddler’
Location: Sgùrr an Fhìdhleir, Coigach
Print Description:
Sgùrr an Fhìdhleir (commonly referred to as 'The Fiddler') provides a breathtaking summit view across the peaks of Coigach and Inverpolly. Though modest in height, it is one of the most dramatic hills in the Northwest Highlands. Its north and east faces drop away in sheer sandstone cliffs straight down to Lochan Tuath - the 500m vertical drop giving a shock to the system after the relatively gentle moorland approach to the summit.
From previous visits I knew that a summit camp in mid Spring would provide the best lighting conditions across the summit plateau as well as the surrounding peaks and crags. It was a calm evening and I was worried the high level cloud would block out the setting sun, however with half an hour to go before nightfall the sun found a gap in the clouds and bathed the surrounding peaks in a brilliant red light.
Some of Coigachs most famous peaks stand proud in the distance - Stac Pollaidh, Suilven and Beinn An Eoin to name just a few.
