The Old Butchers Coffee Shop & Gallery
THE COFFEE SHOP AND GALLERY IS NOW CLOSED FOR THE SEASON. THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR FANTASTIC CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE MADE IT OUR BUSIEST SEASON TO DATE.
CALENDARS AND PRINTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE HERE ON THE WEBSITE, AND THE GALLERY WILL BE OPENING WITH SOME EXCITING CHANGES IN SPRING 2026.
In 2022 my partner Georgina and I moved from West Yorkshire to the small village of Lochcarron in the Northwest Highlands. After 10 years of visiting the highlands and islands on camping holidays and in our campervan, we decided to take the plunge, quit our jobs and establish a new business with access to the mountains and coast of the highlands.
The Butchers shop had been a village staple in Lochcarron for many decades, serving villagers and local businesses across the Northwest. By the time of our first visit to Lochcarron in Spring 2022, the shop had been closed and empty for a number of years. Nevertheless, we could see great potential in both the location and the building and over the next few months began to formulate a plan for moving 450 miles north and starting a new venture from scratch.
Renovation work started in October 2022 and we were able to open for our first summer season in May 2023. Alongside freshly ground espresso coffee, we serve a range of cakes and pastries. Our coffee beans are roasted by the great team over at the Inverness Coffee Roasting company - the Butchers Blend has proved very popular with locals and those travelling along the North Coast 500. We have a log burner for the colder months, as well as full disabled access and accessible toilets.
Alongside the food and drinks offer, we display up to 30 framed prints alongside greeting cards, gifts and our annual calendar. All of the work on display is of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and can be seen on the gallery pages of this website. Prints are made by myself at the Gallery using fine art papers and inks. Framing is undertaken by Ross and Trish at Freedom Framery in the village. We are very proud to work with local suppliers where possible.
The Coffee Shop and Gallery is located on Lochcarron main street directly on the North Coast 500 route. There is plenty of parking alongside the loch and throughout the village, so please come and visit us next time you are in the area. Please check google and our social media channels for current opening hours.
