Print of the Month - February 2026
February’s chosen print of the month - ‘Moonset over Sgurr Dubh’ taken in January 2026.
For 2026 I am excited to be introducing a new monthly print offer! This will give people who follow my work and visit the Gallery an opportunity to pick up a print at a reduced price. Only 10 prints in 2 sizes will be offered at the reduced price - once these have sold, the print will be offered on general sale at the full price and will never be discounted again.
I will be choosing a new image each month throughout 2026. These will be pictures that have never been displayed in the gallery before and will be a mixture of recent work and old favourites that for whatever reason have not been put on display. I absolutely love printing new work - from image editing through to choosing the right paper and then making final adjustments, seeing the image go from screen to a finished print I can hold is incredibly rewarding. The fact that I produce and mount my own work here at the gallery is something that I’m incredibly proud of - the whole process is undertaken with quality and attention to detail at it’s very heart.
February’s Print - Moonset over Sgurr Dubh
Location: Loch Clair, Coulin Estate, Torridon
Print Description:
Not every photograph has to be meticulously planned and hard won. Sometimes my favourite images from a day out are those that are grabbed quickly when an opportunity presents itself - light and conditions can be fleeting in the highlands, and its important to keep an open mind when out and about. More often than not, if something looks interesting to the eye, a compelling image can be made. This picture of the moon setting above Loch Clair and Sgurr Dubh is a great example of how a willingness to capture what’s in front of you can pay off. I've walked past this scene countless times over the years, but on this morning the combination of recently fallen snow, the blue hour lighting conditions and the calm water made for a compelling combination. I was with friends and we had a sunrise location in mind, but I knew it would be worth spending a few minutes to try and capture the essence of what caught my eye at that moment in time. Minutes after this the wind picked up and the reflection in the water disappeared. I was thankful I'd made the decision to capture the scene before the magic disappeared.
